Docusign vs Dropbox Sign
Both are mature e-signature services where recipients sign free from any device. The decision mostly comes down to how many documents you send and how much workflow you need around them.
Our verdict
Docusign's plans are built around envelope allowances: Personal ($11 a month on an annual commitment) includes 5 envelopes a month, and Standard and Business Pro include 100 envelopes per user per year. In exchange you get deeper workflow features — web forms, payment collection and bulk send on Business Pro.
Dropbox Sign includes unlimited signature requests on every paid plan, has a 30-day trial and a free plan for occasional use. Its limits are templates (5 on Essentials, 15 on Standard) and a two-user minimum on Standard. If you send more than a few documents a week and mostly need straightforward signing, Dropbox Sign is the more predictable bill; if you need complex routing, payments or bulk sending, Docusign is the more complete platform.
- you need bulk send, payment collection or web forms
- your counterparties already ask for Docusign
- your monthly volume fits comfortably inside the envelope allowance
- you send many documents and don't want to count envelopes
- you want a long free trial before committing
- your files already live in Dropbox or Google Drive
